What work does National Asphalte do?

Our work starts with the ground we dig and ends with the areas around the house.

National Asphalte does excavation and paving jobs in Laval, on the North Shore and in Montreal.
Before paving, we dig and grade the ground, then we lay a crushed stone base.
The surface comes next, in asphalt, interlocking pavers or concrete.
The estimate is free, and we come to see your property.

LEVEL 01 EXCAVATION

The ground comes first

Digging before building

Excavation is the first step in building your driveway. We dig out and remove the soil that should not stay under your surface.

Clearing a wooded lot

Did you buy a lot in the woods? We cut the trees where the road and the house will go, remove the stumps and build the access road.

A French drain around the house

A French drain, also called a foundation drain, collects water from the soil and carries it away from the foundation. To install it, we dig a trench all along the house.

See French drains

Grading, for the right slope

We grade the ground before laying the base and the surface. The right slope sends rainwater away from the house.

Window wells for basement windows

We install basement window wells during excavation, along with the drain. They hold back the soil around the window and let the light in.

LEVEL 02 STONE BASE

What holds your driveway, under the surface

A compacted stone base

Under the surface, we lay a crushed stone base. We compact it so it carries the weight of cars without shifting.

LEVEL 03 SURFACE

The surface you choose

Asphalt, for driveways and parking lots

We pave home driveways and parking lots in asphalt. Our paving jobs are complete, from ground preparation to the finished surface.

Interlocking pavers, for a driveway or a yard

We lay the pavers one by one, on a compacted and well-levelled stone base. A damaged paver comes out and a new one goes in, without redoing the whole surface.

Concrete of all kinds, poured on site

We do concrete work of all kinds, like a slab or a walkway. First we build the forms out of boards, then we pour the concrete into them.

Repairs, before the hole grows

We do repairs of all kinds, like a crack or a sunken area. Repairing early limits water and frost, which make the damage worse every winter.

LEVEL 04 SURROUNDINGS

The surroundings, to finish the job

Curbs, for a clean edge

We install the curbs that frame a driveway or a parking lot. They hold the edges of the surface so they don’t spread apart.

Stone walls and steps

We build walls and steps in natural stone. A wall can hold back the soil on a sloped lot, and the steps lead right up to the door. We also lay natural stone for walkways and landings. Each stone has its own shape, and we find the right spot for it.

Common questions

Can the same company do the excavation and the paving?

Yes. National Asphalte does both, and everything in between. We dig and grade the ground, we lay the stone base, then the surface. The estimate is free, in Laval, on the North Shore and in Montreal.

Why does excavation matter so much for a driveway?

If the soil stays soft or poorly drained, the surface ends up sinking or cracking. Before paving, we dig out that soil and replace it with a compacted stone base. At the free estimate, we look at what your soil needs.

Do you repair cracked driveways?

Yes. We do repairs of all kinds, on a driveway or a parking lot. An open crack lets water in, and frost makes it bigger every winter. Describe the problem by phone or in the quote request, with photos. We come to see it and give you a free estimate.
