National Asphalte pours concrete of all kinds in Laval, on the North Shore and in Montreal.
Our crew digs, then compacts a crushed stone base.
The concrete then rests on a base that carries the weight and lets water drain away.
The estimate is free.

From walkways to slabs

For example, we pour:

  • a walkway from the driveway to the door
  • a slab for a patio or a shed
  • steps and their landing in front of the door

If your project is not on this list, describe it in your request. We work for residential, commercial, industrial and municipal clients.

How we do your concrete work

  1. We dig. The excavator removes the topsoil and the soft soil.
  2. We compact the stone base. We spread the crushed stone in layers and run the compactor over them.
  3. We set up the forms. Boards hold the fresh concrete in shape, with the right slope for water.
  4. We pour and level. We level the concrete with a long straight board, then brush it with a broom so the surface is less slippery.
  5. We cut the joints. These lines guide the cracks, so the concrete cracks at the joint rather than in the middle of the slab.
  6. We let the concrete cure. It hardens slowly, and we protect it from sun and frost in the meantime.

Concrete with the rest of your property

National Asphalte also paves driveways, in asphalt or interlocking pavers. That way, your concrete walkway and your driveway can be done in the same project, by one company. To finish the edges, we install the curbs.

Common questions

Why is my concrete cracking?

Concrete cracks when the ground moves underneath it or when it hardens without joints. Water that freezes in poorly drained soil lifts the slab, then lets it drop back when it thaws. A crushed stone base, once compacted, limits this movement. Joints cut in the right place guide the cracks, so the concrete cracks at the joint rather than in the middle of the slab.

Can cracked concrete be repaired without redoing it all?

Yes, when the crack stays on the surface and the slab has not moved. If the slab has lifted or sunk, the stone base underneath is what needs fixing. We then remove the affected part and rebuild the base before pouring again. National Asphalte does all kinds of repairs.

How much does a concrete slab cost?

The price depends on the area and on how much digging is needed before the pour. An easy-to-reach slab on ground that is already firm costs less than a slab that needs excavation. National Asphalte gives free estimates. Describe your project in the quote request or call 514‑812‑3445.
